Charlie is a professional cleaner who disposes of bodies and cleans up messy crime scenes.

History[]

During the 1970's, Charlie was a known associate of Winston Scott during the latter's scuffle with Cormac O'Conner, the manager of the New York Continental at that time. Later, Charlie became associate with John Wick, before the latter retired to endure a happy marriage with his wife, Helen.

After Iosef Tarasov killed John's dog, his father Viggo sent his men to kill John, but they failed and John called Charlie to clean up the mess. Charlie is glad to see Wick again and mentioned that he was worried that John left his old life behind. After cleaning up the blood and taking the bodies, Charlie asked if he will be hearing from John again. He then appeared again to dispose of Ms. Perkins's body after she was killed for breaking the Continental rules.

Charlie returns again in a deleted scene in John Wick: Chapter 2 where Charlie is being paid by Santino D'Antonio to dispose of the bodies and cleaning up the mess that John left as he comes for Santino. Charlie is satisfied because with John being back, business goes up, which is good for Charlie. Even though Charlie never makes an appearance in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum with John being excommunicado and how many people John kills in the third film is going up for Charlie and his cleaning crew.

Trivia[]

  • All disposal assignments have the same required price: One gold coin/body.
  • Charlie was the original owner of the 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 that John owns. He named the car Maria.
  • Charlie's role in the story is similar to that of the Ferryman Charon in Greek/Roman mythology:
    • Charlie is a "cleaner" who's hired by criminals to collect dead bodies and deliver them somewhere to be disposed of. Charon is an old man who rows a boat across the river Styx to deliver newly deceased souls to their new home in the Underworld. In addition to this, both Charlie and Charon accept gold coins as payment for their services.
